The 16th Annual International Conference of ICPF, held in Tokyo from July 17th to 19th, 2024, was a resounding success under the expert guidance of Professor Dr. Kazuto Hoshi, Prof. & Chairperson, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, The University of Tokyo. The conference, themed “Break the limit, bring the innovation,” convened over 700 specialists from 48 countries at the iconic Yasuda Auditorium, the heart of the University of Tokyo.
The conference featured a dynamic program encompassing keynote lectures, symposia, panel discussions, and free paper presentations. The event showcased the latest advancements in the field and fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas among global experts. A hallmark of this year’s conference was the ground-breaking meta-verse patient insight session. This innovative platform provided a unique opportunity for cleft-treated patients to share their experiences and perspectives directly with attendees. The session offered invaluable insights into the patient journey, contributing significantly to a more patient-centred approach to care.
The Awards Ceremony included presenting the “Prof. Kenneth Salyer Global Award” to “Prof. Yu-Ray Chen”, Prof. of Surgery, Craniofacial Center, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University, Taoyuan, Taiwan and the Prof. David Precious award to Dr. HyeRan Choo, Neonatal and Pediatric Craniofacial Airway Orthodontics, Department of Surgery / Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Stanford University School of Medicine, U.S.A. / Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. U.S.A.
In addition to the academic program, a marathon was organized to raise awareness about cleft prevention. This event not only promoted physical health but also underscored the importance of proactive measures in addressing cleft lip and palate. The conference’s emphasis on innovation and patient-centered care sets a new standard for future events.
